Our Curriculum

We usually try to combine our curriculum so we are all learning the same thing, but it hasn't been working for the past few years. So....This year, we decided to use different curricula for many of our kiddos. :) Here is what we are using:

Katie: (4 years old): Katie is using Five in a Row Volume 1 and a modified version of My Father's World K with her older Sister. We are so looking forward to curling up with some good picture Books & enjoying activities together that go along with the books. I Love how both of theses programs inspire a love for learning. :) I can't wait to snuggle up with the girls & read. I have a feeling that we will have some of her sisters join us with the fun activities. :)

Karly:
Is using My Father's World First Grade this year. :) We are working on reading and are still trying to find a reading program that is a good fit for her. We love MFW and hope that she will enjoy this. :)
We didn't use MFW K last year for Karly, so we are using some of MFW K for Science and just making it more first Grade friendly for her. :) I feel so sad that she missed out on all the fun activities that her older sister got to do when she was that age, so we are doing them now. :) This way, her younger sister, Katie (4) will join in on the fun activities from K, too. :) So....We are modifying First Grade & K for Karly this year. I think she will enjoy it and I know I will, too. :) Such special memories from MFW K with her older sisters. I look forward to making some with her, too. :)

Khloe (10 years old): Khloe is using My Father's World's Exploring Countries and Cultures program. We are LOVING this. We are true MFW fans and have loved Kindergarten and their other programs. :) We are looking forward to blogging about this and sharing the fun activities as a family. :)
Khloe is also using Apologia's Anatomy and Physiology for science, rather than the Properties of Ecosystems, which is recommended by MFW. We just LOVE Apologia Elementary Science and wanted to use it. Khloe is using Teaching Textbooks for Math, Spelling Power, and Jump In Writing along with Story Starters. :) We use all the other recommendations from MFW. :)

Kyla (7th Grade) is using Classical Conversations Challenge A Program. She is really liking it so far. She meets with a group for instruction on Thursdays from 9:30am-3:30pm and we spend the rest of the week working on her lessons and getting her homework done and presentations ready. So far we are liking the curriculum and feel that it is a good fit for Kyla. :) Here is a link to Classical Conversations:

Karissa is using Sonlight Core100 this year and will be learning US History. I am excited about this. We haven't used Sonlight before, but we are looking forward to it. :) The Bible looks really good in this program as well. :) She is also using Apologia Biology and Teaching Textbooks for Math.
